Claire Tepper

stenographer

Claire Tepper, 92, a stenographer who early in her career helped report the proceedings of the Nuremberg war-crimes trials in Germany after World War II, died Feb. 19 at the Arden Courts assisted-living facility in Annandale. She had complications from a fall a few days earlier.

Mrs. Tepper settled in Washington around 1940 and was a court reporter for the War Production Board. After her work in Nuremberg, she joined the Federal Reporting Co., a court reporting firm owned by her future husband.

The company later became known as Ace-Federal, and Mrs. Tepper worked there until 1990.

Claire Bubley was born in Ely, Minn., and attended what is now the University of Wisconsin at Superior. She was a Falls Church resident.

Her husband, Douglas Tepper, whom she married in 1948, died in 1969. Survivors include two children, Esther Tepper of Falls Church and Donald E. Tepper of Fairfax County; and a grandson.
